World Crocodile Day
World Crocodile Day is celebrated annually on 17 June, raising awareness about crocodiles and the threats they face in the wild. These ancient reptiles have been around for millions of years and play an important role in maintaining healthy freshwater and wetland ecosystems. Despite their fearsome reputation, crocodiles are fascinating animals that deserve our protection and respect.
Fun Facts about Crocodiles
Crocodiles have been around for more than 200 million years, meaning their ancestors lived alongside dinosaurs.
They have incredibly powerful jaws, but the muscles used to open their mouths are much weaker than those used to close them.
Crocodiles can replace their teeth throughout their lives, with some species going through thousands of teeth.
